SOAR Advocacy provides expert assistance to families navigating the complexities of special education. As an experienced advocate, I help families secure appropriate academic support, including IEPs and 504 plans, to ensure their children receive the education they deserve.

I have been an advocate for over twenty years in both my professional career and through volunteer work. I received my Masters Degree in Social Work (MSW) from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2002 and have specific experience in mental health and education advocacy. In addition, I am the parent of two sons who have had
I have been an advocate for over twenty years in both my professional career and through volunteer work. I received my Masters Degree in Social Work (MSW) from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2002 and have specific experience in mental health and education advocacy. In addition, I am the parent of two sons who have had special educational needs. I believe every student has unique strengths that can be integrated into their educational plan.
In addition to my professional education, training, and experience in Mental Health Care and Developmental Delays, I am a life-long learner. I have completed the Special Education Law and Advocacy Series from the University of San Diego School of Law. I am currently a student in the Council of Parent Attorneys and Advocate's (COPAA)
Special Education Advocate Training Credential (SEAT) 2 coursework with anticipated completion in May of 2025.

- School District Liaison: Communicating effectively with school administrators and teachers to advocate for your child’s needs.
- Assessment and Evaluation: Assisting with the evaluation process and interpreting assessment results.
- Transition Planning: Helping your child prepare for life after high school, including college, vocational training, or employment.
- Case Management: Locating resources to support the student both at school and in their community.

I believe that all students do well when they can and that team members are invested in the best outcome for the student. When a student or a team faces a roadblock, it indicates that we need to find the right tools to solve the challenges. My goal is to help move obstacles so that students can SOAR!
